"Where have you been, my darling young one?"

My last post was in March. I could come up with a litany of reasons why I have been absent, but I won't. The bottom line is, if I am writing about my struggles, weaknesses, and ultimate triumphs, it keeps my health in the forefront of my mind, and in my conscious thinking. I need that.

I had back surgery at the beginning of July. While the pain leading up to the surgery was unbearable, the surgery served as a wake-up call to put exercise first, so that I can try to prevent another ruptured disc. Since the surgery, I have completed a couch to 5k program (C25K for those in the know), and have continued to exercise every week. I can do better, and could exercise more often, but the fact that I have maintained this routine for so long is a huge accomplishment. That's the good news.

The bad is that I am still not testing enough, and am not treating the exercise as a piece of this intricate puzzle. It doesn't fit, but I do it anyway because I am trying to maintain the routine. I could be getting so much more out of the exercise, though, and using it to my advantage with my blood sugars. Disconnected, they are, though. So I will be trying harder in that regard.

Now, for the best: the updated picture of E and J. They are getting so big and I love them more everyday. I am so thankful for them, and they inspire me to do better. I really should put their pictures up everywhere, so that I am reminded of what hard work can produce and create.

I'll be here more often...
