The Long Journey: New Goals, Endurance, and Truly Living With Diabetes

As I come up on my 19th anniversary of living with the big D, I am returning to my blog. Again.

I posted the picture of Ellie because I think she is beautiful in it, but also because 5 years ago, I was at the top of my diabetes game. I knew my blood sugars, even though they changed so frequently when I was pregnant. I want that surety again.

Living with this disease is truly a test of endurance. The ins and outs, the minutia of it at times, the frustrations with the fickle nature of blood sugars, and the overwhelming guilt that comes with what I can't help but perceive as my shortcomings in dealing with all of that. Sprinkle everyday life in there and it's hard to maintain focus.

But I'm here. I haven't been focused on my health, and I haven't felt good as a result. But I'm here. Talking it out.

New Goals:

-Write a blog post at least once a week
-Make an appointment with my (an) endo
-Get A1C drawn to know what I am up against
-Maintain a regular exercise routine (which I started back up this morning)
-Test
-Check in weekly with my support system

My life is precious to me. My children and my husband bring so much joy to my life, and I will be the mom, wife, and woman I need to be. For them and for me.

Tomorrow brings:

-testing
-5 am workout
