7. I ordered the Dexcom G4 Platinum (which just sounds cool), and went ahead with the online training to hook myself up to it. This is a sensor that will tell me trends in my blood sugar, and keep track of it in real time. Awesome, easy to use, informative, and eye-opening. For example, overnight is typically a solid 6 hours of unknowns, with a bedtime and a morning fasting reading as my only indications of what my blood sugars are doing. With the Dexcom, I can see what actually happened overnight, what happens over several nights, and make changes to my insulin levels if necessary. Look at that weirdness at 5am. I jump up randomly, then drop. I probably would have continued to drop if not for the temp basal I started in order to exercise. I will be able to see any patterns to this, or if it's just my freaky diabetic body doing random things overnight. But awesome nonetheless. I used to wear one with my old Minimed pump, but it was inaccurate quite a bit, and I don't wear that pump anymore.
8. I exercised 4 mornings this week, and am trying to fit in another run this weekend. I am actually excited to see how my blood sugar responds with the Dexcom.
9. My blood sugars have been crazy good this week. This is the longest stretch of controlled blood sugars I have seen in a long time. It's amazing what happens when I pay attention, stay focused, and care for myself. The positive results make me want more positive results, and sort of proves to me that good control is possible. It's not a lost cause. It just took the right combination of a team willing to work with me, and my willingness to change.
